Getting started
This guide covers the steps from install to publish: install, connect and scan, pick a template, set your brand, and publish.
Status: the steps below are built. Store builds need your own Apple and Google accounts. See Publishing to stores.
1. Install the app#
- Open the app from your Shopify admin and install it on your store. You can design and preview without a plan. See Plans and billing.
- Approve the access it asks for. The app reads:
- products and collections
- store pages and navigation menus
- discounts, so it can show app-only offers
- orders, so it can credit app sales
- customers, for segments and push messages
- Some extra access is optional. These are:
- writing customer data
- customer data erasure
- reading all orders
- draft orders. The quote feature needs this to convert a quote (see Quotes and B2B). Without it, the rest of the app still works.
The app does not change your store or your theme. It reads your store. It only writes to your store when you approve a change.
2. Connect and scan#
The Set up page has five steps:
- Connect store. Shows the access you approved. Wait for the first sync.
- Scan my store. The app reads your live storefront and suggests a brand (colours and font). Nothing changes until you press Apply to my brand.
- Pick a template. See Templates.
- AI first draft. You describe your store and pick a tone: minimal, bold, playful or premium. The app writes a first set of home screen sections. You can change them. Each draft uses 3 AI credits. If you have no credits, or no AI provider is connected, the app uses the template and your brand colours instead and tells you so.
- Launch checklist. Ticks off the steps you have done.
You can open any step again from the top of the page.
3. Pick a template#
Every template uses the same code. You can switch templates later. Your edits start again from the new template's defaults, so save your changes first.
Templates bring their own screens, colours, fonts and sample content. Replace the sample content with your own products, images and text.
4. Set your brand#
In the Brand kit:
- Logo and app icon. The icon is in Icon and splash.
- Colours.
- Fonts.
In Navigation you set the tab bar, the menu and the header.
Changes to colours, text and screens are live after you publish. Changes to the app name, icon, or the app's build settings need a new store build. The app tells you which kind of change you made.
5. Preview and publish#
- Open Preview and publish. The preview shows your app on a phone frame.
- Press Publish. The app saves a version of your screens. The phone app loads it the next time it starts. Publishing needs the Standard or Enterprise plan. If you have no plan yet, you start one with a 14-day free trial.
- If something is wrong, use Roll back to go back to an earlier version.
Publishing a version does not publish a store build. For that, use the Publishing centre. See Publishing to stores.
Turn on extra features#
Some features are off until you turn them on. These are:
| Feature | Flag name | Default | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live shopping | live_shopping | Off | Enterprise |
| Games | games | Off | Enterprise |
| Community | community | Off | Enterprise |
| AI assistant | ai_assistant | Off | Enterprise |
| Appointments | appointments | Off | Standard or Enterprise |
| Gift registry | gift_registry | Off | Standard or Enterprise |
| Prescription uploads | rx_upload_enabled | Off | Standard or Enterprise |
A flag is a remote on/off setting for shoppers' app. Your developer or the owner turns it on after setup.
A feature marked Enterprise shows an upgrade button until your shop is on the Enterprise plan. Each feature needs setup before you turn it on. The feature pages say what setup is needed. See Templates for which templates use each feature.
