Quotes and B2B
This covers trade buyers who order for a business. The Trade template uses it. It also covers the quote inbox, where you turn a request into a draft order.
Status: Needs setup. Plan: Enterprise only. The buyer side needs Shopify's B2B company setup for each buyer. Converting a quote needs the optional draft order permission, which the store must grant when it approves the app. Without it, convert fails with an access error. See Getting started.
What a buyer can do#
- Sign in with a company login. The app shows the buyer's company locations. A buyer can switch between them.
- See prices for the buyer's location, if the company has its own prices.
- Check out with a purchase order number. The number is saved with the order.
- Reorder from past orders.
- Send a quote request: a list of products and quantities, with an optional note and purchase order number.
Payment terms are read from Shopify when Shopify provides them. If not, the app shows "Payment at checkout".
Quote inbox#
When a quote arrives, or a quote is converted, the store owner gets an email.
Open Quotes. Filter by status. Open a quote to see its lines, purchase order number, note and timeline.
Statuses are:
- New
- In review
- Converted
- Invoiced
- Rejected
- Cancelled
You can only move a quote to the next allowed status.
Convert a quote#
- Press Convert.
- The app creates a draft order in Shopify for the company location.
- Optional: send the invoice to the buyer's email with a subject and a message.
- Converting the same quote twice gives an error. Each quote converts once.
If the invoice email fails, the quote stays converted. The app shows a warning. Send the invoice from Shopify.
Limits:
- The purchase order number and payment terms are written as order notes. They are not the native Shopify fields.
- Minimum order quantities are not enforced.
- Changing a location does not reload product prices until the next refresh.
