AI assistant
The AI assistant is a chat in the app. A shopper asks about products and store policies. It can also show a For You list of products.
Status: off by default. Needs setup. Plan: Enterprise only. The assistant gives sample answers until you connect an AI model provider. Your developer sets the provider keys. Test it before you turn it on for shoppers.
Turn it on#
- Open AI assistant in the admin.
- Add FAQ entries. These are your store policies, such as delivery times and returns.
- Save the persona, tone, guardrails and retention settings. Read the note below first.
- Turn on the enabled switch and the AI assistant feature switch.
What it can answer#
- Questions about products, using your store's product search.
- Questions about policies, using your FAQ entries.
- Product cards with live prices, and an add to cart button.
It does not answer questions outside the store. It redirects them.
Guardrails#
These rules always apply in the server code:
- Prices in an answer must match a price on your store. Any other price is removed.
- Only products the search returned can appear in an answer.
- Shopper messages and FAQ text are cleaned before use.
- Email addresses, phone numbers and card numbers are removed before a chat is saved.
- Logs keep counts and IDs only, not the chat text.
Not enforced yet: the persona, tone, guardrail switches and the retention period you save on the settings page are stored, but the chat does not use them yet. Chat uses the server's default retention period. Do not rely on these settings until your developer confirms they are wired in.
Credits#
Each chat message uses one credit. Credits reset each month. How many you get depends on your plan. With no credits left, the assistant stops answering until the month resets. An AI first draft in Set up uses 3 credits. A failed reply gives the credit back. The credit bar shows what is left. Push copy suggestions use the same credits.
For You#
The For You list shows products based on what a shopper viewed, saved or added to the cart in the last 30 days. It uses the phone's activity. It does not use the customer login yet. When there is not enough activity, the list shows popular products.
Shopper deletion#
Chats are removed when a shopper deletes their account. See Customer privacy.
Permissions#
Viewing needs app view. Changing settings needs integration manage. See Team and roles.
